March 5, 2017

It was a great weekend at Delaware Wildlife Area. There are many species of waterfowl hanging around, some I rarely see around here. The pin-tails have been something I have wanted to photograph since I took up photography 5 years ago and this weekend I finally got some decent shots. I was in the marsh at sunset last night and got some pretty nice shots in the golden light.

  1. Beautiful Teal! Wonderful image, glowing with color. Superb! Love the Pintail with the feather floating on the water. Peaceful feeling. There were a lot of feathers floating on the lake here too, just like that; not sure if from geese or gulls, since numbers went up on both of those too. I was happy to see a couple of Common Goldeneyes last week and about 20 Ruddy ducks, but nothing since. The usual couple of dozen Red Breasted Mergansers and a handful of Buffleheads keeping their distance, still few and far between, even for this time of year. This downpour turned the lake muddy and the divers don't like that; they can't see as well underwater to fish, so they won't stay long. Thank you for sharing your Excellent images, I love them all.

    1. Thanks for checking in and leaving such nice comments and perspectives. I would love to see those RBM's and ruddys! It was really cool seeing the pin-tails and getting somewhat close. I have a decent image of a pair of ring-necks in that glowing light also that I will post sometime. I have been through 3000 files in the last 4-5 days and need a break from it for a couple days.
